After reading and reviewing J. M. Barrie's iconic Peter Pan, I couldn't just leave it there. There are so many layers and theories to the story, it is a thrill to even detail one part of that.
As an afterthought of my book review, I wondered if we lived in a world where Peter Pan was real, and Peter was indeed our former self - our younger, child self - would you go with him? Even if he was looking as he usually does, and didn't physically resemble your younger self.
An even more intriguing question (and potentially much darker) is this: Would you travel to a Neverland that symbolically represents the young adult life you feel you are missing out on or that you desire?
It truly feels like a Neverland for young adults would be a Freudian nightmare. But of course, not everyone's alter-ego/Peter Pan would be a twisted individual. More likely, they just enjoy the adventures and joys that aren't readily available for you now. Perhaps a Peter Pan that never chose to go to university and stopped growing up after A-Level exams, stuck in the merry jig of that long, long summer.
